2026.04.26 · Carlos Solano Presents An Experience of Us/Sunset Rumba | Open Portrait Session at WYN317 | Miami, FL   Carlos Solano closed out his solo show “An Experience of Us” at WYN317 with Sunset Rumba, a gallery gathering built around love, gratitude, community, music, and art.  I conducted an open portrait session during the Sunset Rumba to further document South Florida’s creative community, with Solano’s work as the backdrop. Sounds were provided by DJ Safe Stadick and DJ Le Spam. 2020.01.03 | 2019/2020 PATH Winter Intensive Portraits

01.03.2020 • PATH Winter Intensive Portraiture | Miami   I was able to work in a series of impromptu staff and student portraits during PATH’s Winter Intensive. I shot them akimbo style with a Canon 80D in one hand and a handheld Godox AD20/26-inch octobox in the other.   These Are The Breaks is PATH’s immersive week-long visual, performing and digital arts learning experience for Miami’s talented young creatives. This year’s theme was Food + Water + Shelter, which allowed participants to creatively identify the opportunities and challenges present in their communities via a series of lectures, workshops and field trips throughout Miami.    PATH is a Miami-based 501 (3)c nonprofit organization dedicated to challenging the negative stereotypes and destructive behaviors often associated with Hip Hop culture by helping the youth build skills that are useful in school, the streets and the future.   Please check out www.pathtohiphop.org  for more info.

PATH is a Miami-based 501(c )3 organization that uses Hip Hop culture to advance scholarship, community involvement, leadership and entrepreneurship in underserved communities throughout Dade county. From the PATH website:   PATH, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are South Florida’s pioneering Hip hop education organization specializing in history, philosophy and the 5 main elements of Hip Hop (DJing, MCing, B-boy/girling, Urban Art & Knowledge). Our work challenges the negative stereotypes and destructive behaviors often associated with Hip hop culture.   In 2008, The PATH HipHop Summer Academy was presented by Miami Light Project in partnership with Scratch DJ Academy. Teens from all over South Florida connected to learn, create, heal, serve and build lifelong relationships across generations. Since then, we have worked with community partners to train the next generation of Hip Hop artists, leaders, scholars and entrepreneurs in schools, community centers, treatment facilities and the streets.
